I was in the midst of contemplating my weekly blog when I came across these words. I felt they were especially relevant to our current situation! While I feel “winds” may be a much kinder gentler expression of the Covid Catastrophe we are currently experiencing, I believe that it truly reflects where we need to be now. We have seen the enemy, as it were, so the question remains what we are going to do about it.
Both Dennis & I believe that Covid may well be our golden opportunity to make some dynamic changes to ‘business as usual” in our current health care situation. We think this is an opportunity to push for the efficacy of some alternative treatments that don’t depend on Big Pharma or the FDA. Dennis has reached out to our State Senator’s office and suggested that we get an unbiased group together to look at what has happened here with the Covid and our responses to that with the goal of getting better access to alternative preventative and treatment options as well as changing some of this “standard of care” nonsense that has doctors in a stranglehold. I heard Eric Holder (not a fan) quoted as saying “never waste a crisis.” And I believe that exemplifies our current situation. Regardless of what you feel this Covid is, (there are many theories about what is really going on) this is an opportunity to loosen the Big Pharma/FDA monopoly on our country!
I am sending out a challenge to all of you, contact your local, state and federal lawmakers, your boards, other practitioners, anyone who can or is willing to evaluate and formulate a better response/solution to deal with future events. Let’s brainstorm ideas, share information and look at forming a coalition of practitioners that are willing and able to educate our policy makers empowering them to know what we have to offer and giving them some alternatives to being at the mercy of bureaucratic red tape when their communities are in need.
On another note, I had reached out last week to get your views on what each of you were seeing in your communities for the Covid Crisis. I was very pleased by the immediate and informative responses I got! I wanted all our doctors to have access to this information, so we have posted a message board on the HRS website. It is on the front page, so everyone has access to it. I would like to keep collecting responses, treatment ideas, etc. as we move through this current crisis so please keep them coming and for those that have responded please feel free to update us as I know this is a moving target.
