When A Patient Asks…
As medical practitioners we are often asked, “what is the best thing I can do to increase my health; or treat my_____; that doesn’t cost a fortune, that I can do at home?” Most people reading this newsletter are familiar with ozone, using it in your practice daily and appreciating its health benefits is just a given, right?
How many of you when asked the question “what is the best thing….?” Think of recommending a home ozone unit for your patients? I’m going to guess maybe 2 in 10 would suggest purchasing an ozone machine for home use. Why do you think that is? We know how beneficial ozone is in treating many things, I feel we overlook ozone as a home treatment for several reasons. The first being that we are thinking of ozone as being a tool in our toolbox, used for specific things, period. Peripherally we know it has many health benefits, but we don’t connect the dots that allow us the “bigger picture”. Understandable certainly, however I feel we are doing our patients a grave disservice by not recommending a safe, easy, and highly effective adjunct therapy that can be done in the privacy of their own homes! Rectal, and Vaginal ozone are two of the top things people can do at home to promote and maintain their health, ear insufflation for tinnitus, macular degeneration, sinus issues, even wound bagging can be done safely and easily at home. Then there is the added benefit of drinking ozonated water. And probably the single most important benefit is enabling the patient to take responsibility for their own health. Empowering people with the tools and training to be proactive partners in their health care is a win-win for both you and the patient.
The second reason we don’t think about recommending ozone for at home use is that we think about ozone as the machine we use everyday in the office. It is likely a bigger model and we just don’t think about recommending that machine to a patient. Longevity has several really great options in smaller more affordable models that will fit virtually any situation, space, or budget.
